Uganda is a landlocked country located in the East African region, bordered by Kenya in the East, Tanzania in the South, South Sudan in the North, Rwanda in the South West and the Democratic Republic of Congo in the West. Uganda’s diverse landscape encompasses the Rwenzori Mountains along the border of Uganda and DRC and the source of River Nile which is considered to be the longest river in the world. The wildlife of Uganda is composed of its flora and fauna. In the Queen Elizabeth National Park there are 95 species of mammals, including African buffalo, Ugandan kob, hippopotamus, Nile crocodile, African bush elephant, African leopard, lion, and chimpanzee. The area around Ishasha Plains is famous for its tree-climbing lions. Bwindi Impenetrable NP, located in the South Western part of Uganda is mostly known for the 400 gorillas, nearly half of the world’s population of the endangered mountain gorillas. 21 habituated mountain gorilla groups are open to tourism in four different sectors of Buhoma, Ruhija, Rushaga and Nkuringo.
