A very early wake up today as you will have another game drive in Queen Elizabeth NP; in time to see the first rays of the light.
After lunch, you will have a boat safari along the Kazinga channel which joins lake George to lake Edward. Here, you will see a lot of hippos (more than you can possibly imagine), as well as a variety of other animals which come to the waterhole to drink or bathe. You can expect to see: buffalo, crocodiles, elephants and a range of beautiful birds.
Accommodation: Kyambura Gorge Lodge.
Meal plan: Breakfast, lunch and dinner.
This area is called Ishasha and is famous for its tree-climbing lions. To escape from the heat during the day, the lions learned how to climb the fig trees. If you're lucky you might spot a few during your game drive.
After your game drive you will be taken to Buhoma, from where you will do gorilla tracking tomorrow!
In Buhoma you stay at the luxurious Bwindi Lodge. The lodge has recently been completely refurbished and offers high comfort and style. You stay at one of the eight bandas that overlook the forest canopy, each with a private terrace from which you can watch birds and monkeys in the treetops. Each ensuite stone bathroom consists of double sinks, hot running showers, low flushing toilets and the same unique, stylish decor.
Journey time : 2½hours to Ishasha + 3 hours to Buhoma
Accommodation: Bwindi Lodge
Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
After morning breakfast, drive to the visitor information centre for gorilla tracking registration and briefing. Your well trained Uganda Wildlife Authority ranger will tell you about the rules and regulations and how to conduct yourself when you encounter the gorillas. Pass through the thick undergrowth and steep, slippery trails in search for the rare mountain gorillas. Once you find these beautiful creatures you will have a maximum of 1 hour of interaction with them. Your driver will pick you up at the end point and transfer you back to your hotel.
You will spend the rest of the evening resting at the hotel. If you still have some energy left, head out for a community walk to learn about the lives of the Batwa and the Bakiga who live around Bwindi Impenetrable NP.
